The focus of the project was to employ digital imaging technology to generate an image archive of various microbes and other particulate matter associated with wine. To date numerous images of yeasts, bacteria and wine related precipitates have been generated and assembled into a web site termed “Wine Micro Image Archive”. This web site will be linked to the main Viticulture and Enology departmental site and made available to the public in June 2000. A comprehensive image archive of wine-related microbes as well as precipitate and particulate matter found in wine will provide a rich visual resource for winemakers and wine enthusiasts alike.
